Provided there is no indifference or wrong belief about some certain obligations in Islam, string Instruments, playing of these instruments and music, generally, are permitted. If your lyrics are used to guide people to the path of righteousness and the teachings of Allah in the Qur’an, you’re good.
It then becomes a forbidden act if, for instance, both the player of a string instrument and his lyrics preaches fornication, drinking, plus other sinful acts.

Are String Instruments allowed in Islam?
Islam is a religion of love and goodwill, whatever means can be used to make these known to the whole world, such as the playing of the piano, listening or the playing of any of the string Instruments, are not taboo.
As a believer, it is not right to make human beings buy into jobless talks (which are music and singing) to make people derail from the path to Allah.
Nothing should take the knowledge of God out of one’s life. Anything that does not do the contrary is awesome.
The use of Poetry in songs is not by any way close to being on the wrong way if it can reflect people’s lives, show what life could have been for them if they will reconsider their steps for an eternal stay with Allah.
Lastly, it is worthy to note if the sound you’re listening to or the musical instrument you are playing creates some emotional effects like strong passion for excitement, mental change, sexual urge because these things can make one indulge in valueless things, which can result into living out of Allah’s purpose. A swift change is needed if noticed.

What Does The Qur’an Say About Instruments
Over the years, there have been debates over the acceptable or forbidding of musical instruments by playing or listening, giving room to a two-sided view. Here is what it is: Surah Luqman, verse 6 states— “And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead (others) from the way of Allah without the knowledge, and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.”
Meaning, there is no direct part in the Holy Qur’an that forbids the playing or listening of musical instruments. But it clearly states that whoever misleads believers from the path of righteousness would be utterly condemned, as aforementioned.
